JENNIFER HUDSON | To join SMASH

Wow! Smash is going to have quite a vocal showdown! After showing off a physically and vocally and improved Katherine McPhee, another American Idol will be joining the cast.

Announced last Friday, Jennifer Hudson is joining the NBC show in a recurring role for its second season. “We’re thrilled to have Jennifer Hudson coming to ‘Smash,’” NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement. “This series is a showcase for some of the best musical talent in the business and that’s a fitting description for Jennifer Hudson. Her character will represent someone who reached their Broadway dream but also paid a price for it”, he continued.

Executive producer Stephen Spielberg, who worked with Hudson on Dreamgirls, added, “I have no doubt Jennifer will continue to deliver even more inspiration to the audience responsible for giving us a second season on NBC.”

Jennifer Hudson, who won an Oscar for her performance in Dreamgirls joins Smash as Veronica Moore, a Tony-winning actress.

I remember being mesmerized by Katherine McPhee's performance in Smash and this addition will surely bring the musicality of the show even higher. Now that's what I call a good show that knows what good music and singing is. How I wish all musical shows are done this way.

Are you excited? I know I am! Toink! :o)
