Poland 1 - 1 Russia (full-time) UPDATED

Poland started the match enthusiastically, searching for a goal, but Russia kept their cool, and through determination not only controlled Poland but even managed to score. Russia had a corner early in the match which was crossed dangerously, but the Polish defense cleared away. Polanski won a free-kick in a dangerous area, from the right flank, and it went nearly in, but excellent reflexes Malafeev cleared a certain goal. Lewandowski then shot a beautiful shot from outside the area, but the shot went a few centimeters over the bar. Poland after these chances were defending the whole time, with Russia dominating the whole time through possession. Zyryanov then had a chance of scoring but the Polish keeper saved well before Zyryanov could shoot. Poland had a goal disallowed for off-side, and replays confirmed that the goal really was off-side. Kerzhakov could have opened the score, but instead of crossing the ball he opted to shoot, with the shot ending way over the bar. Dzagoev then crossed the ball to Arshavin which however he could not reach, with the chance goes begging. Then Russia scored when Arshavin took the free-kick crossing the ball perfectly in the box were Dzagoev headed with ease, to put Russia in front.

Poland tried to equalize immediately when Blaszczykowski shot was saved by Malafeev. With the goal Dzagoev is currently the top-scorer of the tournament with 3 goals. Zhrikov could have doubled, but his shot ended wide, but only just. Russia protested for a penalty, but incredibly the referee judged Dzagoev pushing the Polish player and so he whistled for a free-kick.

2nd half

Poland played an excellent second half, and meriting the point that they wanted, although they showed that the y wanted more. Early in the half Polanski passed to Lewandowski, but he refused to shoot with his left food, and so the ball ended in Malafeev hands. From a corner Perquis headed the ball but went over. Poland continued to press and Obraniak crossed dangerously, but Malafeev punched before Lewandowski could head the ball. Russia then had an attack from Zhirkov, but he slipped before he could enter the box. Russia could scored from a counter attack by Arshavin, but he held too much the ball and lost it, Poland attacked and scored a beautiful goal (probably the best in the tournament until now) by Blaszczykowski.

Dzagoev then was presented with a chance, after a one-two with Kerzhakov, tried a shot, but ended safely in the hands of Tyton. Kerzakhov appeared exhausted, and in fact was replaced by Pavlyuchenko. Poland started attacking as they believed in the win, but Russia were holding well. Poland tried to change things when Mierzejewski replaced Dudka, so that Poland put in an attacking midfielder. Lewandowski tried to dribble Ignashevich, but he failed. Izmailov then replaced Dzagoev, and an injured Polanski was replaced by Matuszcyk. Both teams were then both content with the draw, as they 'refused' to try, although exhaustion was also a factor.
