Denmark 2 vs 3 Portugal (full-time) UPDATED

The first chance of the game came from Denmark, as Christian Eriksen tried to shoot, but the shot was blocked by Pepe. Denmark had to make a change early in the game as Zimling was injured, and Jakob Poulsen replaced him. Pepe then went down with a challenge with Bendtner, but the referee did not whistle for a foul; Denmark were on the break but controversially, the referee stopped the play so that Pepe could be medicated, who entered the pitch a few seconds later. Ronaldo had a chance with a free-kick near the box, but his shot went over the bar. Portugal scored from a corner when the cross was made near the post and Pepe headed the ball in.

Until now a lot of goals were scored from headers until now. Again Portugal was in midst of controversy, as Bendtner seemed to get away, and Raul Meirelles stopped the ball with his hand, and the referee showed the yelloew card, with the Danish players wanting a red, since it was an obvious chance of a goal. Ronaldo then counter attacked, and dribbled past 2 players, but his pass was not held by Postiga and Andersen collected the ball. Ronaldo then had a free-kick near the box, he shot and was deflected by the wall into a corner. Portugal scored again, as a low-cross by Nani, was shot by Postiga in the back of the net, to make Portugal 2-0 up!

Denmark responded with Eriksen but his shot was saved comfortably by Rui Patricio. But the Danish team scored one before half-time, as against all odds, Krohn-Dehli headed the ball towards Bendtner, who incredibly was unmarked, and scored an easy header to make it 2-1.

2nd half

The half brought more and more enjoyment, as first we saw Denmark do the comeback, but then Portugal score the important goal. Denmark started the half with a lot of possession but Portugal was performing well. Denmark was once again hit with an injury, as Rommedahl was holding the hamstring, and in fact he was substituted early in the second half. Denmark had a chance from a shot by Kvist from a long distance which ended a few inches wide. Eriksen was once again a disappointing figure for Denmark, as once again he failed to show his qualities. Bendtner could have scored the equalizer at the 75th minute as he controlled wonderfully the ball, but his shot ended wide, where he should have done better. Ronaldo had a golden chance to close the match but one-on-one with the keeper, incredibly he shot way wide. And 10 minutes from time Denmark completed the comeback, as Bendtner headed the ball in the net from the far post.

Varela then entered the match and after just 3 minutes tried a first shot but missed the target, but the ball came back to him and with a good shot he fired into the back of the net to make it 3-2 for Portugal. Denmark could have scored in the extra time, when Eriksen found Schone, but the latter shot wide. The disappointing figures are Eriksen, but more than him Ronaldo, who had a horrifying game today.
