Czech Republic 0 - 1 Portugal (full-time) UPDATED

A game with a few opportunities, except in the last few minutes when Portugal hit the post. Portugal had the upper hand in the beginning of the half as a corner by Meirelles was cleared and the shot from Moutinho was cleared. The media showed us that Portugal legendary icons are present who are Eusebio and Luis Figo. A Czech corner then created trouble for Portugal defense as Rui Patricio went for the ball but Ronaldo headed away, although they risked colliding with each other. Darida of Czech Republic found some space in Portugal defense, and whips in a cross and Milan Baros nearly made contact with the ball. Ronaldo then broke through the defense of Czech Republic but he fouled the defender before firing a rather venomous shot. Veloso then whipped in the box a good cross and Ronaldo with an acrobatic kick tried his luck with the shot ending a few inches wide. Ronaldo had another chance from a free-kick which went wide. But Cech was there, in fact he didn't try to save it because he saw it go wide. Ronaldo was the main man for portugal who created chance after chance. Portugal however must continue without Helder Postiga who was injred with a hamstring injury. Hugo Almeida replaced him. The final chance of the half came from Ronaldo, when he received a beautiful ball from Meirelles, and he fired a shot which hit the post.

2nd half

In this half only one team was on the pitch, Portugal dominating possession, territory and even chances. The half began were the other half stopped, Ronaldo had a free-kick and with a beautiful shot he hit the post again! Portugal scored in the 60th minute when Nani crosses the ball to Hugo Almeida who headed in the net, however the goal was disallowed for off-side, which replays showed that in fact it was. Moutinho then was presented with a chance from a shot, but Cech saved the shot into a corner. Then there were fears for the Czechs after Kadlec appeared injured after he collided with Cech. Czech Republic operated from counter-attacks, but these were rare and nearly ineffective. The goal finally came when a cross by Moutinho saw Ronaldo's head to net the ball and put Portugal in front. No real other chances were created as Portugal defended the result exceptionally.
