Racism fears over the Euro 2012

The captain of Netherlands Mark van Bommel is saying that during their opening training session in Poland there were racist chants towards the 'black' players of the team. The UEFA said that the only incident that it was reported to it was a protest from another city that did not have any matches, and until now there were no racism cases reported. Even reporters in the ground did not hear anything, and this made Van Bommel furious and told the reporters to open their ears. Expectation for the Dutch team is high as for their first training session in Poland some 20,000 fans went to watch the players. Until now there were no reports from neither the UEFA and nor the Dutch FA. The incident happened in Krakow where the English team is also hosted.

A reporter said that the last thing the UEFA want to hear is a case of racism. Martin Lipton from the Daily Mirror said that he heard the abuse, as donkey chants were "loud and clear" towards the black players of Netherlands. The abuse happened more than once during the training session as on the second lap abuse was becoming worst. Yesterday the Dutch team visited the Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz. Van Bommel described the incident as a disgrace especially after they visited the concentration camp. Last month a BBC programme raised the issue of racism by showing videos during Ukrainian and Polish matches were there were racism and even Nazi salutes. This week Michel Platini confirmed that if the referee hears racism he has the power to stop the game.
