I didn't have many expectations when I started reading this book. I wasn't even impressed when the steamy scenes started early in the story. However, the more I read, the more I was sucked into the story line and the more I appreciated the language that was used.

Lana was a midwife and a healer who went into Ashen Forest to gather dragon bane to save her people in the village. There in the forest was where she met Alaron. Their first encounter, he was naked. (This is in the first excerpt above so make sure to read that.)

Alaron is a shapeshifter, but wait! This is not like what you think. This book does not involve vampires or werewolves or anything like that. You will have to read the book because I don't want to spoil it. But his kind can shapeshift completely into an animal, including his natural form. He can also shift any part of his body if he chooses. This can be discovered towards the last third of the book when he was mating with Lana.

Overall, this book was well-written in my opinion. The description of their world as well as the steamy scenes were truly vivid. You would want to be alone when reading this book, because it will make you jump the person next to you! ;)

Check out some of my favorite quotes/scenes!
Lana: "How do you get blood from a dragon?"
Alaron: "A variety of methods, I would imagine, but the safest and most effective is asking very, very politely."
Lana: "For your information, I'm here to gather dragon bane."
Darus: "Half naked?"
Lana: "No, I have to swim for it. Not naked yet."
Darus: "Right after having a cuddle with a giant bear?"
Darus: "Are you miserable at home because you wish you were with Lord Far-too-serious over here?"
Lana: Yes but it's not that simple.
Darus: "And you...mystery man...do you love her enough to want her with you all the time, and swear to make her happy on pain of my boot ending up in your ass?"
Alaron: "Of course."
Darus: "Very well then, I pronounce you both fucking idiots who should have never let things go on like this for so long. Please kiss the bride."
