Twilight & Immortals star KELLAN LUTZ | To voice TARZAN

Kellan Lutz (Twilight/Breaking Dawn) has been cast to voice the title character in Constantin Film’s motion-capture adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan. Spencer Locke (Resident Evil) will star as Tarzan’s love interest, Jane Porter. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rienhard Kloos and Holger Tappe are co-directing the movie. Kloos also co-wrote the new adaptation with Yoni Brenner and Jessica Postigo. He is producing with Robert Kulzer.

In the new updated version of the jungle hero, Tarzan’s parents are billionaire adventurers who are killed in an airplane crash. The movie’s villain is CEO of Greystoke Energies, a man who took over the corp. from Tarzan’s deceased parents. Jane is the daughter of an African guide who is committed to the conservation of the jungle.

Tarzan first appeared in the 1914 novel Tarzan of the Apes and spawned 35 sequels. More than 90 movies have been made based on the character since 1918. In 1999, Disney released the hugely popular 2D animated feature inspired by the novel, which was directed by Chris Buck and Kevin Lima. The latest adaptation of Burroughs’ other franchise John Carter proved to be an epic bomb for Disney.

RESIDENT EVIL 'RETRIBUTION' | 10 Facts from Paul W.S. Anderson

The 10 Facts for Paul W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil: Retribution (2012) were given in an interview with Collider recently. What Paul W.S. Anderson had to say is more than a little dishearting to true horror and zombie film fans. Thank God for the upcoming season of The Walking Dead where fans will be able obtain their true zombie horror fix.

Resident Evil: Retribution‘s plot synopsis: “K-Mart (Spencer Locke), Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) and her brother Chris Redfield (Wentworth Miller) are captured by the Umbrella Corporation while the heroes must battle the Las Plagas variant of the infected, meaning the mindless zombies are replaced by stronger, scarier monsters.”

Resident Evil: Retribution currently stars Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Oded Fehr, Boris Kodjoe, Colin Salmon, and Johann Urb.

The 10 Facts from Paul W.S. Anderson about Resident Evil: Retribution:
  • RE:5 starts filming in Toronto in a week. Anderson lent heavily on the video games for inspiration for Retribution, just as they did with the previous films.
  • They’re bringing in the Las Plagas parasite from the games for Retribution. It will allow the undead to “run around, ride motorbikes, and shoot machine guns.”
  • They’re recreating an action set-piece from the fifth video game where the characters are driving in a Hummer while being chased by zombies. Anderson changed the vehicle to a Rolls Royce Phantom.
  • They had to tear apart and rebuild the Phantom with roll-bars and such in order to shoot the chase scene.
  • Responding to criticisms that the film franchise has become too action-heavy while sidelining the horror, Anderson said the games have followed the same trajectory, leading to some phenomenal action sequences. He praises the franchise for consistently changing things up.
  • When decided which new characters to include in Retribution, Anderson and Milla Jovovich listened to the fanbase. They settled on adding Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, and Barry Burton, who they felt where the three fan-favorites that the film franchise has yet to touch on.
  • When casting for the new characters, they tried their best to get people that looked as much like the game characters as possible.
  • Retribution takes place in Tokyo, Moscow, and North America. They’re filming in all three locations.
  • When Anderson signed on for the first film, he flew to Osaka and spent three days at Capcom explaining his vision and having a dialogue with the game creators.
  • Anderson says the relationship between the films and Capcom is symbiotic. They look at the scripts and give notes, and sometimes the Anderson and the people working on the film franchise will change things because of the comments.

I guess Paul W.S. Anderson did not read Resident Evil: Afterlife: What this Horror Franchise Movie did Wrong and I bet he will never read these comments a site visitor left over at ComicBookMovie about each point of his 10 Facts list:
  • Paul W S Anderson is still shouting “SEE DAT WAS IN DA GAME!”
  • He still tries to force his wife down our throats, when her character isnt even the main character in the games.
  • Milla Jovovich is not very hot, and she has no tits whatsoever
  • This movie will be shit
  • The series will continue to suck
  • 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10) Who…cares?

The Milla comments are dubious but everything else… Resident Evil: Retribution will be released in US theaters on September 14, 2012.
