Russia 4-1 Czech Republic (Updated)


Russia are in control of this match, and deservedly lead 2-0. Early in the game were the Czech who pressed the Russian side, however, minutes after this run Alan Dzagoev scored the rebound after Aleksandr Kerzhakov hit the post with the header. The second came minutes later in the25th minute after a pass by Andrei Arshavin, Roman Shirokov lobbed the ball perfectly past Petr Cech. Dzagoev could have made them 3-0, late in the half, but his shot went out.




2nd half


The second half was not different from the first half. The score could have been bigger but Kerzhakov missed a lot of chances.In fact the first chance of the second half was from Kerzhakov whose shot went wide. Czech Republic scored a goal in the 51st minute and hopes that the Czechs could score the drawing goal seemed to be possible. The Czech goal was scored by Vaclav Pilar as he received a through ball, rounded beautifully Malafeev and scored the goal. Konstantin Zyryanov tried his luck, with his shot ending over the bar, while Kerzhakov lost 2 chances of the important goal, that would have ended the Czechs hopes. Czech Republic pressed on, but the Russians were dangerous from counter attacks, and the goal came from Alan Dzagoev, after an impressive run from Arshavin. Roman Pavlyuchenko made it 4-1 10 minutes from time, to seal the win for Russia.
