BAYO to pull-out BAYO-nic failure of a campaign | Ads inspire hilarious spoofs!

Manila, Philippines - Well, well, well! It seems BAYO may have just earned renewed popularity! In a very bad way though. After much controversy, the brand has decided to trash its newly launched "What's Your Mix?" campaign after suffering from so much negative feedback from bloggers, writers and critics from all over.

Bayo's vice-president for product research and development Lyn Agustin says "we will prepare a better and more sensitive campaign” as a reaction to the backlash that the campaign has gone through just days after its launch. The campaign which features models with labels such as “50% Australian and 50% Filipino." She also apologized on behalf of the company for “offending some sectors.”

“We are very sorry that the campaign unintentionally offended people,” Agustin told ABS-CBNnews.com. “We are going to prepare a better and more sensitive campaign, more sensitive to the big issues.”

Agustin also adds that they will also be taking down all store merchandising and advertising in all their branches natiowide and completely wipe out the said campaign. “Yes, we’ll bring them down immediately,” she said.

She also clarified that contrary to what most Filipinos expressed online, the intention of Bayo’s “What’s Your Mix?” campaign is to promote Filipino heritage as well as a person’s uniqueness.

The agency behind the controversial campaign however still remains unnamed.

While most of the reaction to the campaign was that it was "demeaning", others said the ad suggests that those who are 100% Filipino are inferior to their mixed race counterparts.

But as predicted, Filipinos always find a way to find something hilarious in anything and turn to laughter. Just check out these spoofs and you're guaranteed to laugh out loud!

Oh well, I guess the "colonial mentality" of Filipinos will always be there. For some reason, we just can't stop looking at foreigners and idolize them. Sigh....

Toink!
